Board Game Lab in other MCP clients

The address for any MCP client other than ChatGPT and Claude: Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, Grok or your own. Add it once, sign in with your Board Game Lab account, and your agent can design and playtest games in your Board Game Lab tab as you.

Add it to your agent

Add the address above as a remote MCP server, the same way as any other. For an agent configured by file (Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, your own client), add an entry of type http or streamable-http with that address; no header or key is needed. If your agent asks how to authenticate, choose OAuth. Grok takes the address in its connector settings, with OAuth.

Sign in to Board Game Lab

  1. The first time your agent connects, it opens a Board Game Lab page in your browser.
  2. Sign in there if you aren't signed in yet, and approve.
  3. Your agent now acts as your Board Game Lab account. It never sees your password.

The access lasts up to 12 hours; after that, your agent opens the page again. To end it sooner, disconnect Board Game Lab in your agent's MCP settings. Connections set up when this address needed no sign-in now go through this sign-in too.

Use it in a conversation

  1. Say “Connect to my Board Game Lab.” If a Board Game Lab tab is open and signed in to the same account, your agent pairs with it. Otherwise it gives you a link: open it and choose Open in the browser or Open in the Board Game Lab app, and Board Game Lab opens already paired. The link works once, for 10 minutes, and only for your account.
  2. Ask for what you want, for example “Open my Hearts project and add a standard 52-card deck.”
  3. If you later work in another tab, or your agent says it has no tab, say “Pair with my Board Game Lab tab.”

Stay in control

Board Game Lab shows whether your agent is paired with your tab and lets you disconnect it (how); disconnecting Board Game Lab in your agent's MCP settings ends its access to your account. More about staying in control.
